MMA Release: Statement of MMA President & CEO John J. Walsh in Support of Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Call for Expanded Vaccination and Personal Diligence in the Face of COVID-19

LANSING (Apr. 14, 2021) —The Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA) today released the following statement from MMA President & CEO John J. Walsh:

We appreciate the personal and professional challenges that continue to arise from the pandemic and are thankful for Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s calls for expanded vaccination and personal diligence over further restrictions in our ongoing battle with COVID-19. MMA will continue to work with our members and elected officials on solutions that enhance safety while permitting businesses to grow and compete.

Manufacturing continues to lead the way as one of the safest workspaces as a result of our industry’s willingness to place the safety of its workforce first and foremost. We join Governor Whitmer in her call for continued personal diligence as COVID-19 case rates continue to increase rapidly in Michigan, emphasizing continuation of common sense practices to mitigate viral spread, such as wearing a mask, social distancing, proper hand washing and staying home when sick.
